State Department Urges Avoidance of Chinese Suppliers in Energy Transition

Encourages the development of clean energy economies through domestic production.

Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources, Geoffrey Pyatt, spoke at a natural gas conference this week, where he urged energy companies to continue investing in clean energy manufacturing even as China threatens to dominate the field. Thus far, Pyatt said that China has held “essentially a monopoly” on solar parts, but that does not mean there isn’t room for every country to develop domestic clean energy economies on their own.

“We need to make sure we don’t replace European dependence on Russia for gas with a collective dependence on Chinese clean tech and critical minerals,” said Assistant Secretary Pyatt, who is a former ambassador to Ukraine. “We shouldn’t give in to fatalism. We shouldn’t assume this race is lost.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Assistant Secretary Pyatt as he encourages domestic clean energy production.
  • For Secretary of State Blinken to seek God’s direction as he heads the State Department.
  • For wisdom for the president and his energy advisors as they continue to pursue alternate energy sources.
